Very poorly written. There are more quotes from other authors than original writing. He may be writing under the guise of being a christian writer, his bigotry and hate are shine through all too clearly – definitely not true christian values.

I read a chapter a day. The finance chapter pointed me in the right direction. As a result of the finance chapter, I finally found the finance book for me. I wondered why other people did well, but I kept getting caught in the economic downturns. I figured others were just lucky. Now I am learning their secrets of financial success. When I start sharing some of my newfound financial knowledge with them, like getting rid of my credit card, I find that others have already quit using credit cards a long time ago. I then find out how they solved problems like renting a car without a credit card.
When the finance area of my life is strong, I’ll return to Maxwell’s “Today Matters” to find the next area of my life to work on.

“Today Matters” by John Maxwell seems to have one main focus: live well today to set yourself up for future succcessful tomorrows. Maxwell focuses on 12 main areas for success:
1. Attitudes
2. Priorities
3. Health
4. Family
5. Thinking
6. Commitment
7. Finances
8. Faith
9. Relationships (people are more important than money)
10. Generosity (time and money)
11. Values
12. Growth
Some readers may differ with me, but I appreciated the fact that Maxwell mentions his Christian roots in the book (mentions some Bible verses, his previous career as a church minister, etc. ). Contrary to some reviewers, I did not think that Maxwell is not preachy or judgmental in the book.
Instead of “stealing” quotes, Maxwell readily gives credit where credit is due. In several instances, Maxwell quotes people of many different backgrounds when he wants to make a point in the book.
The author’s passion for people to be successful is obvious when you read the book. The book is a smooth read and the narrative flows freely. You can easily read the book in a few sittings. At the end of each chapter there are exercises that encourage you to reflect on the chapter contents.
Read and enjoy. Highly recommended!

My oldest son made Father’s Day 2007 special with Today Matters. Having it gave me the idea that all my guys should have a copy, so I purchased a copy for my youngest son and my son-in-law. I believe it will make a difference to the men in my life . . . and also their boys!
